In their final session for the 1997 winter meeting, governors heard from film director and producer Rob Reiner, Baylor Professor Dr. Bruce Perry and David Hamburg of the Carnegie Corporation on early childhood cognitive development and from TV host John Walsh on the need for a victims' rights amendment. Reiner was leading the Early Childhood Engagement Campaign, which was seeking support for education beginning at birth, and was producing a television show on the issue to be aired on ABC. close
