Representatives of several environmental groups briefed reporters on their perspectives on new clean air standards which the EPA proposed in November. These new regulations are intended to reduce the amount of ozone and particulates, small particles which are released by automobiles, utility companies and steel mills. They stressed that these standards are based on clear scientific evidence and that the current standards need to be updated. close
