One day after he announced that he was leaving his post as Whitewater independent counsel this summer to become the dean of the Pepperdine University Law School and School of Public Policy, Mr. Starr spoke about the status of the investigation. In his speech he stressed that no decisions about indictments had been reached and that while the investigation is far along, there is still much evaluation of evidence to be completed. He also expressed confidence that his staff could complete the investigation without him, if necessary. close
