In recognition of Black History Month, President Bill Clinton and Vice President Al Gore welcomed officials of the National Association for Equal Opportunity in Higher Education to the White House. The president praised their efforts in making college possible for black men and women and listed many distinguished alumni of the historically black colleges and universities. He also talked about his fiscal year 1997 budget which contains more funding for Pell Grants for college education and tax deductions for the families of college students. close
