Telephone lines were opened for viewer comments. Guests discussed protocol and previous White House dinners. Chefs and others described preparations for the dinner. Live shots were shown of President Clinton and the first lady greeting Prime Minister and Mrs. Chretien as they arrived at the North Portico of the White House. Also shown were the president and prime minister and their wives entering the Grand Foyer and greeting guests in a receiving line.
