H.R. 1278, a measure to reform the federal deposit insurance system and enhance regulatory and enforcement powers of federal financial institution regulatory agencies was agreed upon. This resolution is popularly known as the savings & loan bailout. The House diagreed to the Senate amendments to H.R. 1722 and agreed to a conference on the bill. Rep. Coelho spoke to the House during the period reserved for one-minute speeches and his resignation letter was read at the end of the session. close
