The First Lady , joined by several other advocates, announced the formation of Prescriptions for Reading Partnership, a new group that would encourage pediatricians to provide books to parents for them to read to their children. She said that parents who are given books by doctors are more likely to read to their children and that reading to children at an early age increases parent-child bonding as well as literacy rates for both adults and children. close
