In his weekly radio address, President Clinton talked about the second National Net Day and compared the effort to connect every U.S. classroom to the Internet with “an old-fashioned barn-raising.” He said that Vice President Gore, three AmeriCorps members, two local high school students, and Communication Workers of America volunteers were in the Oval Office with him. The president announced that he would direct every U.S. government department and agency to develop educational Internet services targeted at young people. Vice President Gore talked about technology literacy programs funded by federal grants. close
