Various events from the British election campaign were shown. The general election will be held on May 1, and the House of Commons will reopen officially two weeks after the election. Ambassador Kerr and others explained the difference between British and U.S. election campaigns and advertising. A few British television commercials were shown. Paddy Ashdown, who would become prime minister if the Liberal Democrats won a majority of seats in the House of Commons, was shown on the BBC “Question Time” program answering questions from the audience.
