The group known as the “Blue Dog” Democrats voiced their support of the apparent budget agreement between President Bill Clinton and congressional Republicans. They stressed that they and other Democrats were supportive of the ongoing negotiations in contrast to the other House Democrats led by Representative David Obey (D-WI) who opposed the proposal. They also stressed that the resulting budget would be very similar to their own budget proposal and exemplified Democratic Party values. close
