The BBC aired lived coverage of the British elections. Various political experts offered an analysis of the exit polls and election results. The results in several still uncounted districts were shown as well as the transition of power between former Prime Minister John Major and Prime Minister Tony Blair. The Labour Party won a decisive victory with 419 of the 659 seats, as compared to 165 for the Conservative Party in the elections and PM Tony Blair will become the 5th Labour Party Prime Minister elected in this century with the largest Labour majority ever. Several news updates were shown at the tops of the hour. close
