With Mike Wallace acting as master of ceremonies, President Bill Clinton and others addressed the crowd of Washington dignitaries and Roosevelt family members gathered for the dedication of the new President Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial. They talked about President Roosevelt’s accomplishments during his twelve-year tenure, which included the Great Depression and World War Two. President Clinton said that the message of the memorial “is that the greatest president of this century, who led this nation as no other could, was disabled.” The designer and sculptors were also recognized. Princess Margriet was Franklin Roosevelt’s goddaughter. close
