Professor McDougall talked about his new book, Promised Land, Crusader State: The American Encounter with the World Since 1776. His book details diplomatic relations with foreign nations since the beginning of United States history and divides them into different categories and terms. Professor McDougall also argues that the federal government should rethink its humanitarian aid efforts because if the government cannot even clean up its inner cities it cannot help countries around the world such as Somalia. He also writes that a certain confusion has existed in American foreign policy since the end of the Cold War. close
