Mr. Humes talked about his influences early on in his life and his love of history and the English language. In his book, Mr. Humes talks about what he learned during his tenure as a speechwriter for different presidents, the real reason Ford pardoned Nixon, why Reagan was his own best speechwriter and the reasons why Bush lost in the 1992 election.
