President Bill Clinton (D-Arkansas) gave remarks at a Democratic National Committee dinner. He discussed his policy plans as we approach the next century. He went through a list of his administration’s accomplishments including the drop in welfare rolls, the telecommunications trade agreement, the summit of service and the recent budget compromise between the White House and Congress which the president pronounced "great". The president then described some of the compromises made during the budget negotiations and said the budget will promote long term growth while keeping interest rates down. close
