Representative Dan Burton, the chair of the House Government Reform and Oversight Committee, announced that the White House had agreed to provide all subpoenaed documents to the committee by June 13. The White House had earlier refused to provide some requested documents, or to provide a viewing of them at the White House, and Representative Burton had responded by threatening to file contempt charges against the president. Rep. Burton stressed that this was a victory for Congress and the people who have a right to know about White House campaign fund raising practices. close
