On Saturday, March 22, C-SPAN Radio notes the 45th anniversary of the death of General and President Dwight Eisenhower on March 28, 1969, with portions of oral histories from his son John Eisenhower, his vice president Richard Nixon, and journalist Walter Cronkite. Historian and author William Hitchcock from the Miller Center at University of Virginia assesses Eisenhower as a general and president, and describes his relationships with his son John, Richard Nixon and Walter Cronkite and the press.

These oral histories were conducted by independent producer George Colburn for a documentary series on Dwight Eisenhower’s military and political careers. They originally aired, along with other oral histories from this collection, on C-SPAN 3's American History TV. close
