Senator Frank Lautenberg (D-New Jersey was joined by Senator Dick Durbin (D-Illinois) and Congressman Henry Waxman (D-California) briefed reporters on new tobacco legislation designed to keep young people from smoking and to limit second hand smoke exposure. They also stressed that any settlement of the lawsuit against tobacco companies must be approved by Congress. They also announced that they had asked the president to issue an executive order to prohibit smoking in all federal buildings. close
