In the first of a series of several summer meetings, Census officials talked about how governmental and other organizations could help improve the count in the 2000 census. Director Martha Riche spoke about the major challenges posed by the census and how the bureau planned to meet these in 2000, including the use of sampling techniques. Peter Bounpane addressed how those in the audience could cooperate with the bureau to produce a more accurate census. He also took questions from the audience. close
