The Natural Resources Defense Council released its seventh annual report on beach closings due to pollution. Representatives of the group also called for national standards governing beach monitoring and more public notification of beach pollution levels, even if the beaches are not closed. The name of the study is, “Testing the Waters: Does Your Beach Vacation Rate.” In her opening statement, Ms. Chasis mentioned that since 1988 there were over 18,000 closing and advisories at beaches throughout the country. close
