Vice President Al Gore spoke to an annual conference of Hispanic leaders from around the nation. He talked about the contributions of Hispanics, both to the economic growth of the past five years, and to Congress. He also stressed that diversity and immigration made the United States unique and challenged those who would separated citizens on the basis of ethnic background. He also noted that Hispanics were still not benefiting as much as they should from economic growth and that the federal government should help empower them to do so. close
