PBS Commentator Paul Duke delivered the keynote address at the 1997 National Press Club Journalism Awards luncheon. The awards honor the best in newspaper, magazine, television and radio reporting over the past year. Richard Sammon read the names of the winners and their accomplishments that earned them awards. Mr. Duke congratulated the award winners and talked about the rich tradition of American journalism and its rigorous standards of accountability. Following his prepared remarks, Mr. Duke answered questions from the audience. close
