In a portion beginning at about 2:40 p.m., members debated the tax cut portion of the budget package which is designed to cut $94 billion over the next five years. Members highlighted aspects of the bill which they liked and disliked. After a call to the flor, members heard condluding speeches by Rep. Rangel and Rep. Archer, the ranking member and the chair of the House Ways and Means Committee. The House passed the bill by a 389 to 43 vote. close
