Ms. Beals talked about her unique perspective on the civil rights movement as one of the first African-American students at Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1957. This was part of the Majic Bus tour that took high school students on a tour of significant sites of the civil rights movement in the United States. Ms. Beals said that hatred toward other races was no solution to societal problems and said that white and black people enabled her to enroll in Central High School. Students asked questions follwing her remarks. close
