Committee members heard continuing testimony on campaign abuses during the past campaign. Vice President Al Gore’s former deputy chief of staff David Strauss testified about a fund-raiser at a Buddhist temple in Los Angeles. He stressed that VP Gore did not know that the event was a fund-raiser. Michael Mitoma, the former Mayor of Carson, California, testified about an illegal contribution he brokered from Cheong Am, a South Korean company, to the Democratic National Committee in exchange for the chairman meeting President Clinton. close
