The U.S. Senate met and resumed consideration of S. 25, to reform the financing of Federal elections. Members debated a number of amendments and measures on the bill including an attempt to return the bill to committee for further amendment. The Senate passed S.459, to amend the Native American Programs Act of 1974 to extend certain authorizations, and an unanimous-consent providing for the consideration of H.J. Res. 94, which provided on going appropriations for the 1998 budget. The adjourned at 630pm until 10am the following morning. close
