The U.S. House met and took up a debate and vote on a number of pieces of legislation. Members passed the Energy and Water Development Conference Report by a yea and nay vote of 404 yeas to 17 nays, making appropriations for energy and water development for the fiscal year ending September 30, 1998. They also completed debate on the Export-Import Bank Reauthorization after voting on a number of amendments to it. Members also passed appropriations bills for the Treasury, Commerce, Justice, and State Departments as well as for the Postal Service and Judiciary agencies. Members issued a subpoena in the disputed election of California’s U.S. Representative Loretta Sanchez (D). Following the completion of the days business the House voted to adjourn until 10am the following morning. close
