Rep. Tom Lantos, chairman of the Government Operations Subcommittee on Employment and Housing, spoke to the Women’s Democratic Club about fraud, mismanagement and a myriad of abuses in federal housing programs. Lantos talked about the involvement of HUD Secretary Sam Pierce in the allegations brought before the committee. Lantos also spoke about the cost of the “HUD scandal” which was not only measured in wasted tax dollars, but in deprived needy families and lost trust in American government. close
