NASA scientists briefed reporters the Cassini mission to Saturn scheduled for launch on October 13. They focused on the various aspects of the launch and safety precautions surrounding it. The probe will reach Saturn in 2004 and investigate the planet for four years. Many groups oppose the launch because they argue it poses a threat because it is powered by 72 pounds of plutonium. close
