The Women’s Military Memorial was dedicated at Arlington National Cemetery. It is the nation’s first memorial to women, who have served in great numbers over the period of American history beginning with the American Revolution. President Bill Clinton greeted the spectators with a video tribute to servicewomen and Vice President Al Gore officially dedicated the memorial. Other speakers included Secretary of Defense William Cohen and Justice Sandra Day O’Connor. close
