US Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor talked about the American Bar Association’s efforts to assist emerging democracies in central and eastern Europe. She said that there were democratically elected governments in more than half the countries in the world. Justice O’Connor gave examples of the difficulties some countries are having making the transition to democracy and the ABA’s assistance in that transition in the courts. close
