Speaking Truth to Power
Professor Anita Hill talked about her book, Speaking Truth to Power, published by Doubleday. The title of the book refers to her attempt in 1991 to convince the Senate Judiciary Committee that she was telling the truth about sexual harassment by Clarence Thomas, her supervisor at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. She was testifying against the confirmation of Judge Thomas for U.S. Supreme Court Justice, but he was confirmed later by Congress. She referred to some of her questioners as “vicious.” She also talked about the effects of her testimony on her life, about her work as a law professor, and about her continued fight against sexual harassment in the workplace. close
