The Supreme Court considered the case from 2012: "Zivotofsky v. Secretary of State Clinton", which looked at whether the regulation of passports is a political question that should not be considered in the courts. In an upcoming Supreme Court case, Menachem Zivotofsky, by his Parents and Guardians and Others, Petitioners v. Secretary of State Kerry, Respondent", the Court will consider whether the Congressional law that orders the Secretary of State to list people born in Jerusalem as born in Israel is an unconstitutional infringement of the President’s recognition powers.Edward Harris, Assistant Dean & Associate Professor for International Programs at the Chicago-Kent College of Law in Chicago, discussed details of both the pending and historic cases. close
