Mr. Shesol talked about his book Mutual Contempt published by W.W. Norton and Co. The book details the political and personal rivalry between President Johnson and Senator Robert Kennedy, which began when Senator Kennedy’s brother John ran for the presidency in 1960. Mr. Shesol describes the animosity between Johnson and Kennedy and how it impacted national and foreign policy in the 1960s. Following his presentation, Mr. Shesol answered questions from the audience. close
