Senate Governmental Affairs Committee members continued the investigation into campaign fund-raising abuses in the last election. Interior Secretary Bruce Babbitt and attorney Paul Eckstein testified about the Department of Interior decision not to allow three Indian tribes to open a casino in Hudson, Wisconsin. Mr. Eckstein claimed that Secretary Babbitt told him he had been pressured by Democratic National Committee officials not to grant the license because other tribes who opposed the casino had given large contributions to federal and state Democratic campaigns. close
