The National Education Goals Panel issued its seventh annual report on the progress of U.S. education. The panel members commented on the report, which outlined progress toward the eight national goals established in 1990 on 26 core indicators and also state by state progress. The report focused on student achievement in math and science, which was part of the fifth goal.
