Committee members continued their investigation into campaign fund-raising abuses during the 1996 election. Several White House aides testified about the contributions and access of Johnny Chung, a Chinese businessman all of whose contributions were later returned by the Democratic National Committee, to the White House. Republicans charged that accepting some of his money at the White House violated campaign laws while Democrats countered that Republicans broke this same law during the campaign. close
