Assistant Secretary Elliott Abrams answered questions concerning his role in the Costa Rica airstrip and his role in soliciting aid for the Contras from the Sultan of Brunei, who donated 10 million dollars. Secretary Abrams also discussed the misleading statements he had earlier made to Congress and the press concerning the involvement of the U.S. government in aiding the Contras. He maintained that he was not aware of any illegal activities. close
