Professor Donald talked about the early life and education of President Lincoln. He has written extensively on the life of President Lincoln and has won the Pulitzer Prize for his writing. Professor Donald talked about how the lack of formal education did not hamper Lincoln during his life. He related the limited opportunities that young Lincoln had for education due to his families' farming responsibilities but did manage to learn to read. Professor Donald was preceded by a reading of a winning student essay on Lincoln. close
