In the third portion of the fourth day of public hearings on the TWA flight 800 crash, testimony focused on ways to reduce the flammability of fuel tanks. Representatives from Boeing, the military, the FAA and pilots discussed already proven ways to reduce flammability such as filling unused fuel tanks with foam or inert gases, such as nitrogen, and using less flammable fuel.
