Members of the panel discussed ways to improve racial diversity in primary and secondary schools. School superintendents, educators and former Education Secretary William Bennett talked about different models and examples of racial diversity in the United States. Challenges for schools in regions of poverty and preparing minority students for college were presented from a variety of viewpoints including proper staffing, funding and aid to struggling families. Alternative systems such as charter schools and vouchers were also presented and debated. Following their discussion, the panelists took questions from the audience. close
