Oral arguments have been heard in a school desegregation case, Missouri v. Jenkins. In that case, a local judge ordered the district to raise taxes which would fund efforts to lure non-minority students back into the public school system. Footage is shown, including interviews with Mr. Snyder, Mr. Garcia, Mr. Webster, Mr. Benson, and Ms. Fulson. Michigan Citizens v. Thornburgh addresses a joint operating agreement between two newspapers in Detroit. In order to qualify for an exemption from anti-trust laws, the businesses must be otherwise "failing". Previews of the next week’s cases are given. Oregon v. Smith is a freedom of religion matter. Baltimore v. Bouknight examines the right to protection from self-incrimination. The issue of flag burning is also raised, with footage shown of a recent demonstration at the Court building. close
