President Bill Clinton and President Yasser Arafat talked briefly with reporters before their private meeting. The president stressed that he would communicate the results of his meeting with Netanyahu to Mr. Arafat in order to understand how he can help move the peace process forward. Some of Mr. Arafat’s remarks were not translated. The president also reemphasized that he did not have a relationship with Monica Lewinsky and that he did not ask anyone to lie. He also promised to provide answers on the issue as soon as the independent counsel investigation will allow. close
