The Special Supplemental Nutrition program for Women, Infants and Children (commonly known as "WIC") was funded for about $7 billion in 2013. The program provides a monthly "package" of foodstuffs plus other nutritional services. However, there have been concerns over eligibility requirements, the nutritional quality of foods allowed under the program and the amount and quality of nutritional education offered. close
