Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chair General Martin Dempsey briefed reporters on a number of issues. They announced restructuring efforts and a 20 percent Defense Department budget reduction. On the the Chinese air space dispute, Secretary Hagel said China and nations in the region should "stay calm and responsible," and said the move was "not a wise course of action." Other topics included extremists groups in Syria, the Bilateral Security Agreement in Afghanistan, and the impact of sequestration on the department. close
