Rock The Vote was founded in 1990 by Virgin Records exec Jeff Ayeroff, campaign operative Steve Barr, and more to engage the youth to vote. Their first initiative was to get young people to vote for the "Motor Voter" bill, which allowed people to register to vote when getting their driver's license at the DMV and to register by mail. Basically, Rock The Vote wanted to make registering to vote easy and accessible. At a 1991 hearing, MF DOOM, then known as KMD member Zen Love X, testified on the bill's importance in front of the U.S. Congress along with fellow KMD members Onyx and Barr. While the bill was passed by congress, it was vetoed by President George H.W. Bush. However, the issue became a point of contention and proved to be important in the following presidential election. Bill Clinton took up the issue and used it to his advantage, winning the election and eventually signing the bill into law as the National Voter Registration Act of 1992.In honor of Election Day close
