Pediatricians and a Centers for Disease Control (CDC) official testified at a hearing on the link between recent outbreaks of diseases such as measles, and some parents' decision not to vaccinate their children. At the time of the hearing, Washington, D.C, California and several other states were dealing with measles outbreaks. Dr. Anne Schuchat said that vaccines are safe and that no scientific evidence supports that they cause autism. She also told the committee that the report claiming otherwise has been discredited and deemed fraudulent by the science community, and that the doctor who authored it has lost his license. close
