Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA) questions General John Kelly on his knowledge of DACA, its importance to communities throughout the country, and whether he intends to live up to the promises made to DACA applicants that their information would not be used against them or their families. Senator Harris eventually voted not to confirm General Kelly, saying, "Unfortunately, I can’t look DREAMers in the face and offer them any guarantee that General John Kelly won’t deport them. And, without that guarantee, I can’t support his nomination for the Department of Homeland Security. For ethical and moral reasons, we have to honor the promise made by the United States government to these kids." close
