One of my favorite moments from the Obama administration:
2015. Barack Obama leads the congregation of the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in a song. "Amazing Grace." During his eulogy for South Carolina State Senator Clementa Pinckney, Obama finds a way through song to connect to a community in deep mourning, a community needing at that moment a national leader who could remind them of the humanity and compassion still existent in the world, despite what recent events may have otherwise indicated to them. On June 17, 2015, Reverend Pinckney and eight others were tragically murdered in a racially motivated mass shooting carried out by a white American terrorist. With humility, Obama takes on the responsibility -- as a man, as a Black man, and as the President of the United States -- of paying tribute to those who lost their lives that day.
