National Safety Council President and CEO Deborah A.P. Hersman testified before the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee on Sept. 13 on the use of advanced driver assistance systems-equipped vehicles. The focus of the hearing was on the benefits of automated truck safety technology and the potential impacts on jobs and the economy.
“We cannot continue to do things the same way and expect different results,” Hersman said. “When it comes to saving lives on our roadways, this means implementing a legislative framework for advancing safety technology on ALL motor vehicles. By advancing safety technology in trucks and buses, as well as passenger cars, the bill before you today represents a step in that direction to move us closer to a goal of zero fatalities on the roadways.” close
